"Fashioning Felt presents an extraordinary range of felt. From two-dimensional carpets to three-dimensional environments, each work reveals the virtuosity of both the material and the designers. The exhibition and book focus on felt that has been produced by traditional hand- or machine-felting processes; they exclude non-woven felt and techniques, in order to underscore the essential elements of feltmaking — wool fiber, agitation, moisture, and pressure.

There's also an incredible Maze Generator.

The {beautiful} graphs these programs generate can be used as knitting or crochet patterns or for lots of other techniques.

If you're craving to wrap something gargantuan in knitting yourself, you are extended an invitation to contribute knitting to cover the Skye Bridge, which links the Isle of Skye with the mainland in the West Highlands of Scotland. This project is sponsored by Luib na Lùban, a new textile art group in Skye and Lochalsh. The knitted pieces will be sold off afterwards to raise money for various charities.

Portland Garment Factory

What a find! Indie designers and small clothing companies can both utilize the services of companies like Portland Garment Factory, and nowadays they are as hard to find as hen's teeth. Samples, drafting of patterns, grading and even small production. Nice. Manhattan's Garment Center used to be bustling with companies that provided these services. Many of them have been forced out by astronomical rents, and the renovation of factory buildings into "luxury" condos. Viva Portland!

A few weeks ago, someone came into my shop and gave me card for his company that actually does these same things...I'll post the New York option later in the week...
